Development Manager (Trusts, Foundations and Statutory)

City Year UK is seeking to appoint a passionate advocate for the role of Development Manager. 

City Year UK is a youth social action charity which challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time voluntary service. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the UK. 

The City Year experience empowers these exceptional and diverse young people to realise their aspirations and grow as leaders, both through their impact on children’s lives and through training, coaching and career development opportunities. 

Position: Development Manager (Trusts, Foundations and Statutory) 
Location: Angel, Islington, London 
Job type: Full-time, permanent 
Hours: 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday 
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience 
Benefits: up to 5% employer pension contributions, 25 days holiday per year plus one additional day per year after two years of employment, capped at a maximum of 28 days, two paid volunteer days, 3 grace days over the Christmas break and a range of other great benefits.

About the role: 

City Year UK has an exciting opportunity for a passionate candidate to develop and implement a trusts, foundations and statutory fundraising strategy to grow income from this source and meet annual fundraising targets. You will research, prepare and submit bids to major charitable trusts and foundations, government, lottery and other similar organisations. 

You will be managing a prospect research pipeline and portfolio of prospects from identification to solicitation and stewardship to achieve targets and increase revenue from this income stream for City Year UK. Whilst developing new funding opportunities and working with the Development team to grow the prospect pool, you will manage existing trusts, foundations and statutory funder relationships to ensure they are fully-engaged and enthused. 

About you: 
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, and have significant experience of working in a fundraising environment. Demonstrable experience of developing and securing funding from trusts, foundations and statutory funders is also necessary. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated creative thinker who might see an opportunity where others have not. He or she will be persistent, good-humoured and will relish the opportunity of taking a leadership role in a young, dynamic organisation. We are looking for an outgoing individual who would enjoy being a passionate advocate for City Year UK and the impact it has on young people and children, through written work and face to face. 

With excellent written skills, you will have financial knowledge and the proven ability to work as both a team member and independent leader. A willingness to be “hands on” in all aspects of the role, including offering a broader contribution to the Development and Communications team is required. 

It is desirable that you have a good working knowledge of salesforce and have experience of engaging young people.
