The Rory Peck Trust is a registered charity which provides practical and financial support to freelance journalists and their families worldwide, assisting them in times of crisis and helping them to work more safely and professionally. It is the only assistance charity 100% dedicated to this work. Operating globally, the Trust carries out its core charitable work through the Freelance Assistance Programme and collaborates with a huge network of local and international contacts and journalists organisations. We have always passionately believed that freelancers are essential to independent journalism and press freedom.

The key priority of the Development Officer is to develop funding partnerships and actively progress grant proposals with a focus on trusts, foundations and statutory donors, while providing effective management for the fundraising programme.  He/she will be expected to raise both unrestricted and restricted grant income to meet targets and organisational objectives, as well as co-ordinating reporting and other compliance requirements.

This is a three days a week role, and one which is central within the organisation. Some travel may be required. The Trust is based in central London and the successful candidate will be joining a small, multi-national team where individuality, creativity and effort are highly valued.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have significant knowledge of fundraising, either in the capacity of fundraiser with considerable experience of researching and writing grant proposals; or working for a funding body as a reader, assessor or programme officer. He/she will have  strong writing and organizational skills and a pro-active approach; sufficient confidence to build relationships with current and potential donors, and the ability to take responsibility for their own work programme.
