The Council for British Research in the Levant is a British Academy-sponsored charity that promotes, sponsors and carries out high-quality research in the humanities and social sciences throughout the countries of the Levant, with its UK office in London and research centres in Amman and Jerusalem.  CBRL’s Strategic Plan priorities for 2017-2020 are to raise our profile with universities and donors and diversify our funding streams.

The CBRL is looking to recruit a dynamic individual to take on the role of Development Officer, based in our small London office in the British Academy. This is a new post in the organization The Development Officer will take the principal role in developing and steering our marketing and fundraising strategies and generating income from new sources.  Networking with foundations, trusts, and other potential sponsors, in the UK, raising funds through core grant initiatives and applications for funding will be a priority for this post holder along with dissemination, communication and extending the profile of the CBRL in both public and specialist environments.

The start date will be 2nd October (latest), and the job is envisaged as full-time (37 hours per week) negotiable to 80%. The initial term will be for one year, with potential to be extended by a further year.

Remuneration

Salary range £40,000 to £45,000 depending on skills and experience.  Excellent defined benefit pension plan.
