The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing fundraising from public statutory bodies, trusts and foundations, companies and patrons.

Managing a team of seven, the role requires motivational leadership, setting targets, articulating the case for support and leading all fundraising efforts for the Education and Exhibitions programmes, special projects and endowment or capital campaigns.

The Director of Development reports to the Director and is part of the Gallery’s senior management team, contributing to organisational strategic planning activities and regularly liaising with Trustees, a range of funders and stakeholders, artists’ representatives and the wider arts community.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of art and the cultural funding landscape; and demonstrable achievements in developing new and existing income streams to meet ambitious targets.

Conditions of Work

  • Permanent contract: full time
  • Hours of work: 9.30am – 5.45pm, Monday to Friday, with some occasional evening and weekend work, which will be compensated by time off in lieu.
  • Salary: £55K-£60K, dependent on experience
  • Period of notice: 3 months
  • Probation period: 6 months
