Fundraising Executive (Major Donor) 

Our client's mission is to improve the welfare of working animals in the world’s poorest communities. They do this through treatment, training and teaching. They TREAT by providing free veterinary care when animals suffer or when emergencies strike. They TRAIN by building expertise among vets and promoting humane care by animal owners. They TEACH children to develop positive beliefs, respect and compassion towards animals. 

Position: Philanthropy Executive 
Location: London 
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9.00am to 4.30pm Fridays 
Salary: £24,000 to £26,000 per annum depending on experience 
Benefits: 22 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays, plus three additional days to be taken over the Christmas period when the office is closed, 10% employer contributory pension to personal pension plan matched by 5% employee contribution and optional private healthcare scheme 

About the Role: 

The Fundraising Executive will support the Major Gifts Team in the delivery of income by undertaking mailings, organising small intimate events, providing administrative support and high-quality research. 

This important role will have an overview of our portfolio of major donors, ensuring excellent stewardship and the smooth running of the Major Gifts programme. 

The Fundraising Executive will be an outstanding team player and work collaboratively to maximise all income streams in the fundraising department. 

About You: 

The successful candidate will have experience of taking complex information to write concise, persuasive and engaging copy and of providing exemplary administrative support and maintaining effective administrative systems and procedures. Experience of providing excellent stewardship and resolving complaints is also essential, as is experience working with databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge and setting up/following procedures. 

Additionally, you will have experience of prospect research techniques skills, and using research to suggest suitable projects/areas of interest/building a long-term relationship. Experience of working in a charity/fundraising department, and/or event management would be beneficial. Experience of organising/assisting with events and of bringing in income against targets would also be an advantage. 

Excellent computer skills are essential with strong knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc. You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively about a cause to a variety of donors through mail, telephone or face to face. Ideally you will also be educated to degree level or equivalent. A passion for the welfare of animals in some of the poorest parts of the world is also essential.
