Background

Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS) is a UAE environmental non-governmental organization, established under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).

EWS works in association with WWF, one of the world’s largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. EWS-WWF has been active in the UAE since 2001 and has successfully initiated and implemented several conservation and education projects and initiatives in the region.

EWS-WWF works federally and in the region with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah and is governed by a local board of directors.

About the role

The Institutional Fundraising Manager is responsible for soliciting large gifts (AED 100,000+) from different local institutions and organisations in the UAE and selected countries in the GCC. The Institutional Fundraising Manager will work closely with the Business Development and Marketing Director to develop an engagement plan for targeted institutional donors.

The Institutional Fundraising Manager will manage a portfolio of primary prospects and be responsible to provide high level relationship management with different types of donors and will provide strategic plans to recruit new donors as per the sector assigned. 

The Institutional Fundraising Manager reports directly to the Business Development & Marketing Director and will be interacting and dealing directly with the marketing teams and other units at EWS.

Primary responsibilities

Fundraising Plan and Strategy. 

  • Develop a fundraising plan that includes different tactics and strategies for a number of prospects. 

Fund Solicitation and Donor Recruitment.

  • Approach identified contacts in the assigned sector. 
  • Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion towards solicitation and closure.
  • Provide donors with generic and customized proposals. 

Donor Stewardship

  • Supervise the delivery of donors’ benefits.
  • Making introductions to other colleagues to their counterparts within the donor organisations.
  • Providing reports, updates and other communication requirements. 

Partnership Management 

  • Responsible account management.
  • Regular meetings with existing donors. 
  • Establish relationships with counterparts/peers at new donors and partners and be the second point of contact if needed. 

Internal Communications

  • The Institutional Fundraising Manager will be required to take part of internal meetings within the unit and at the organisational level.
  • Required to contribute to the building of the business development content writing.

Organisational Support

  • Represent the organisation positively in public at all times by acting as a professional representative and ambassador.
  • Support the mission and goals of the organization across all programmers and units.

Administration

  • Maintain accountability to administrative systems (mainly Salesforce) and procedures, including submitting expense reimbursements, invoices, lobbying reports, and so on by the deadlines assigned, as well as submitting content for the organizational calendar and informing other staff of activities and whereabouts.
  • Plan and report the personal performance indicators in support of the line manager.
  • And any additional tasks as required by the workload or at the request of the Business Development Director.

Candidate requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience, with demonstrated success in Fundraising, resource mobilization or corporate partnership.
  • 2+ years’ experience in managing strategic accounts whether as donors or corporates.
  • Knowledge of Middle Eastern philanthropic giving is an asset.
  • Knowledge of proposal writing is essential.
  • Fluency in professional Arabic (writing and speaking) as well as English is essential.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major donors in order to develop relationships between them and EWS- WWF.
  • Interest in all aspects of the environment, wildlife, terrestrials, green energy and other topics that are undertaking by EWS-WWF is essential.

Education

  • Bachelor Degree in marketing, business administration and/or corporate relations management.
  • Master degree in related field is desirable.

Skills Required

  • Arabic knowledge is required.
  • Valid UAE driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Flexible team player willing to play interchangeable roles within the corporate team when coverage is required.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Adaptable, flexible, able to take initiative and prioritize among competing demands
