Having grown from putting on small pop-up film nights in pubs to producing a festival attracting over 14,000 visitors, Flatpack Projects is a nationally respected organisation which delivers a host of year-round projects and events alongside our annual festival. We are at an exciting point in our journey, and our focus is now on developing our marketing strategy and diversifying our income streams.

The Role

You will play a meaningful role in helping us continue to deliver on our mission by ensuring the organisation’s sustainability and promoting our exciting programme to audiences and partners alike. Fundraising and marketing are vital to our success and we are looking for someone to support us in developing and delivering strategies in both areas which will enable us to achieve our goals over the next twelve months and beyond.

Working with a dedicated team, you will help boost our earned and private income in particular, whilst working to ensure that our events remain accessible for all audience members. You will provide a practical and comprehensive plan for the marketing team with clear targets for growth, and play an instrumental role in building the festival’s impact and reach.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in building and delivering on a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the organisation, including setting targets for income

  • Research and design a database of potential partners and sponsors, keeping track of fundraising progress and updating as necessary

  • Develop and handle relationships with sponsors and partners

  • Craft materials to support fundraising such as media kits and sponsor packs

  • Research and attend networking events and meetings on behalf of the organisation

  • Work with the Operations Manager to deliver a festival launch event for partners and prospective partners

  • Assist with occasional research and application writing for trusts and foundations

  • Increase revenue from box office, merchandise sales and our friends scheme through targeted marketing and use of web analytics

  • Lead on all aspects of marketing with the support of our Marketing Coordinator and Assistant. This includes social media, the website, mail outs and printed materials such as our festival brochure

  • Handle the marketing and fundraising budgets

Essential Experience, Skills and Characteristics

  • Fundraising experience, preferably in the Arts

  • Networking and relationship management

  • Comfortable setting and working to targets and deadlines

Desirable Experience & Skills

  • Marketing experience, particularly digital marketing

  • Understanding of analytics and insights on social media and Google

  • Budget management

Working Hours and Environment

You will be largely office based however may be required to attend events during the evening and at the weekend, particularly during our festival (30 April - 5 May 2019).
