Fundraising Events Manager (Maternity Cover)

Fauna & Flora International

Salary: Circa £30,000 per annum depending on skills and experience

Start Date: As soon as possible

Duration of Contract: This is a temporary position to provide maternity cover and will terminate on or before 3 June 2018 on the return of the Philanthropy Adviser from maternity leave.

Location: Fauna & Flora International, Cambridge, UK

Fauna & Flora International (FFI) saves species from extinction and habitats from destruction, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and which take account of human needs.  Our guiding principles are to work through local partnerships, acting as a catalyst for change, and making conservation relevant.  Founded in 1903, FFI is the world’s longest established international conservation body.  We now work in 50 countries around the world with over 150 projects.

We are acutely aware of the challenges we face.  The world’s remaining natural habitats, and the species that depend on them for survival, are under greater pressure than at any time in recent history.  However, with the health of the planet now firmly centre-stage, we have an unprecedented opportunity to make a real difference.

Our Business Plan maximises our potential to achieve conservation impact in the field.  It articulates the choices we are making and the approaches we are taking in conserving biological diversity.  Critical to our success will be enhancing our profile and reputation, broadening our sphere of influence, and strengthening and diversifying our income.

The FFI Fundraising team currently consists of eleven individuals, focussing on raising income from individuals and trusts and foundations, mainly in the UK but we are developing new markets particularly in the US and Australia. We work closely with FFI’s Communications team on publications and online communications, and the statutory fundraising team on grants from governments and multilateral organisations.  We are recruiting three new posts to respond to opportunities and increasing targets.  We are a hardworking team, committed to delivering our income targets to meet the organisation’s needs, but fun and friendly – there is never a dull moment!

This is a truly exciting time to be joining FFI’s Fundraising Team. Over the past couple of years we have been honing our fundraising and have created what we believe to be an industry-leading programme built on developing and nurturing genuine long-term relationships with the people who support our conservation work.

This critical post will focus on supporting the development and implementation of FFI’s exciting programme of fundraising events – mainly in the UK (London and Cambridge) but you may be involved in supporting events in the US (New York and Washington and elsewhere), Australia (Melbourne and Sydney), Europe and Kenya.  In addition, you will support the management of FFI’s corporate affinity accounts, including the development of new accounts.

We are looking for an experienced event manager to develop and deliver an outstanding programme of events, including dinners and receptions, for high net worth individuals.  You will be confident in dealing with major donors, celebrities and senior staff and Trustees, and will be results driven and highly organised with a fine attention to detail.  You will be a team player, able to work effectively with colleagues across our global organisation.

In return you will have the opportunity to help deliver inspiring events, potentially working with high profile celebrities and major supporters, delivering funding for our conservation programmes around the world.  You will be working within an exciting, friendly and lively team that is part of a groundbreaking and entrepreneurial organisation at the forefront of global conservation.
