The fundraising manager has the primary responsibility to prepare and submit funding applications for projects to meet agreed funding targets and to oversea the work of the small fundraising team.

The manager is a member of the management team and asisits the chief executive in implementing Computer Aid’s business plan and strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Developing and implementing a fundraising strategy to maximize financial support from trusts, foundations and corporates and through events and donations
  2. Preparing applications for funding to submit to appropriate bodies and supervising the preparation of those by other team members  
  3. Travelling overseas to promote fundraising activities
  4. Managing and motivating staff in the fundraising team and any volunteers that may be appointed 
  5. Maintaining effective relationships with funders and identifying potential new partners
  6. Preparing and monitoring an annual fundraising budget, and identifying fundraising targets
  7. Ensuring that fundraising income and expenditure is inputted expeditiously into the Sage financial system
  8. Assisting the development and implementation Computer Aids strategic organizational and financial goals together with the Chief Executive and other managers
  9. Attending meetings of the Board of trustees and preparing reports as required
  10. Representing Computer Aid at conferences, seminars and other events

Person Specification

Essential skills/knowledge

  1. Experience of overseeing and an understanding of fundraising with specialist skills in at least one area and with a proven personal track record of delivering income growth
  2. Proven ability to write compelling and successful fundraising proposals
  1. Good analytical, organisational and project management skills
  2. Good communication skills, both written and oral
  3. Self-starter with the ability to initiate projects and see them through to successful completion
  4. Familiarity with current foundation, trust and government fundraising landscape for NGOs
  5. Ability to work well under pressure, to tight deadlines and ability to prioritise conflicting demands within a busy schedule
  6. Good interpersonal skills and a team player.

Desired skills/knowledge

  1. Experience of managing a team
  2. Demonstrated practical experience of running fundraising events
  3. Good understanding and practical experience of the NGO/Development sector.
  4. Knowledge of ICT4D and working in developing countries.
