Background:

GiveOut is a new award-winning charity fundraising for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI) human rights activism worldwide, ensuring that activists and their organisations have more of the resources they need to defend their communities and campaign for change.

Across the world, LGBTQI people face serious human rights abuses for being themselves. Activists are doing vital work to protect and improve the lives of LGBTQI people, but they are under-resourced. GiveOut enables individual donors to give tax efficiently in one place to support LGBTQI activists and their organisations globally. We identify a core portfolio of beneficiaries, through a rigorous process of consultation, due diligence and vetting. Our supporters know that a donation to GiveOut has impact across the LGBTQI movement.

At the same time, GiveOut is developing exciting corporate partnerships, encouraging businesses to provide in-kind and financial support to the global movement for LGBTQI human rights. GiveOut announced two corporate partnerships in 2018, with more to follow in 2019.

The Supporter Engagement & Partnerships Officer will be a key member of GiveOut's small team, undertaking research to identify supporters, developing and maintaining the supporter database, organising meetings and events to engage supporters, developing and supporting new corporate partnerships, writing proposals for grant funding and helping to communicating impact.

The role reports to the Executive Director. The Supporter Engagement & Partnerships Officer will bring new ideas and expertise to GiveOut, while having the opportunity to develop skills around supporter engagement and corporate partnerships, learn about LGBTQI human rights activism around the world, and play a key role in helping to build this new international charity.

Main responsibilities:

  • Undertake research to identify potential supporters/donor prospects.

  • Provide administrative support, developing, maintaining and updating the supporter database.

  • Draft emails, letters and other communications to supporters.

  • Help to organise supporter events, including travel and logistics for speakers.

  • Report to supporters on successes and impact.

  • Write short articles and social media posts on supporter stories.

  • Support the team in developing proposals and concept notes for sponsorship from corporate and institutional donors.

  • Contribute to a dynamic, fun and effective organisation.

  • Work towards realising GiveOut's vision, mission and values.

What does success look like?

  • A community of supporters engaged through regular communications, meetings and events.

  • An up-to-date supporter database.

  • Increased donations to support LGBTQI activism worldwide, helping GiveOut to fundraise more in 2019.

  • An organisation that is respected and valued by supporters and grantee partners alike.

  • Impactful corporate partnerships.

  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing the human rights of LGBTQI people.
