Job Ref: VA84

Since 1985 Freedom from Torture has been the only UK human rights organisation dedicated to treating and supporting torture survivors who seek refuge in the UK. We do this primarily through psychological therapies but also services which document torture forensically, practical legal and welfare support and creative groups.

Thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers – as well as thousands of passionate supporters and funders – thousands of torture survivors have been able to rebuild their lives in incredibly difficult circumstances.

As part of our ten-year vision to support more survivors of torture Freedom from Torture has ambitious fundraising targets, with significant growth targeted across all income streams, including Statutory funding and Trusts and Foundations. To support these plans we are now seeking an experienced Grants Fundraiser to build up a new grants portfolio to meet the organisation’s growth targets.  The post holder will be responsible for undertaking research into new funding opportunities in the UK and overseas, preparation of  funding applications, monitoring and donor reporting, and developing and maintaining successful relationships with existing funders and prospects to maximise the funding potential from these sources.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience and a good track record of securing substantial income from statutory funders, Trusts and Foundations; strong skills in prospect research, grant management, exceptional writing skills and be results focused and skilled in the development and management of donor relationships.
