Greater London Fund for the Blind

CEO

c.£70,000

Lambeth, London

The landscape for the provision of services to visually impaired Londoners is changing rapidly. The sector’s behemoths have changed their leaders and changed tack, and some new and influential players have joined the fray. The Vision 2020 objectives are bringing sight loss into sharp focus for many key stakeholders. There is a push away from homogenous, centralised, national services toward community led, bespoke initiatives that allow visually impaired people to access services through local hubs, so they can lead the life that they want – rather than being transactional “service users”.

It was as if the Greater London Fund for the Blind was purposely built for the market it now finds itself in.

Since 1921 the GLFB has been supporting local sight loss charities, helping them to deliver the projects within their communities that will help the visually impaired people who live there. Each one of our local society members is different, having grown out of local needs. However, they are all bound together by an ethos of striving to ensure that blind and partially sighted people get the services and help they need to participate fully in their local communities. They also work to prevent avoidable sight loss.

The board has recently grown its ranks, bringing in the skills needed to face future challenges and re-igniting a passion for and engagement with the charity’s work. We are now looking for a CEO who will work with us to expand our reach, strengthen our members and implement our strategy.

What we’re looking for

  • A senior leader with significant experience of managing and developing a fundraising function.
  • Experience of managing organisational and development across all functions.
  • Ability to demonstrate growth within organisations / functions that you’ve led.
  • Ability to work and adapt to a rapidly changing sector.
  • Experience of working within an agile and fast moving organisation.

What we can offer

  • An engaged and supportive board with an appetite for change.
  • The resources and flexibility to invest in new initiatives.
  • A diverse fundraising function to build upon.
  • Excellent network of external stakeholders.

If this role piques your interest, please do apply by sending through your CV and our retained consultants (Bamboo Fundraising) will be in touch. The closing date is Friday 23rd February – but we will also require a covering letter and it’s best to have had a conversation before putting one together.

We look forward to hearing from you.
