Cornwall’s leading presenting theatre

Hall For Cornwall is Cornwall’s largest commercial theatre, an independent presenting house with its own production company welcoming over 200,000 people a year. We provide cultural education, talent development and workspaces for the creative industries.  Our commercial activities include a ticketing service and showcasing Cornish produce.   The building which houses our theatre has been part of the Cornish landscape for over 170 years: a trusted edifice and beating heart at the centre of Truro with a long-standing history of local civic pride.

Our redevelopment vision

On 2 June 2018, we closed for an ambitious and much-needed two-year £20million redevelopment of our theatre, seeking to safeguard the future heritage of the building and transform it into a dynamic and high-quality venue that will give the people of Cornwall access to the best performing arts to rival any city in the country. Our new home will be a vital community asset, firmly placing us at the heart of Truro’s cultural and economic offering and securing our long-term future.  Upon the foundations of the existing site, we will unveil the history and heritage of our Grade II* listed building and create a new theatre within. The project encompasses a complete refurbishment of the auditorium into three tiers increasing in capacity by 300 seats; a creative business hub to support growth of Cornwall’s cultural industries; a distinct and attractive cafe/bar at each end of the building; and a heritage project that will revitalise and make accessible the building’s vibrant long history.

A great opportunity

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Head of Development to make a significant contribution to an exciting chapter in Cornwall’s cultural history. We seek an individual who shares our passion, grit and gusto to deliver a new cultural venue for the county, creating further opportunity for young people and widening access to the very best performing arts alongside creating jobs and boosting the local economy by a projected £35.6 million by 2025/6.

You will work alongside our dedicated leadership team and board of Trustees, including co-chair Dame Rosemary Squire and Radio 3 Controller Alan Davey, building on our capital successes to date and leading with a fundraising strategy to successfully achieve our remaining redevelopment target of £1.7m and plan for successful income beyond 2020.

If you have a passion for Cornwall and a willingness to embrace HFC's redevelopment, its needs and ambitions, then we would like to hear from you. We have Cornwall in our bones, and we want you to too.
