Head of Fundraising and Partnerships

An exciting opportunity for a Head of Fundraising and Partnerships in a leading nursing charity.

The Florence Nightingale Foundation exists to improve the care of patients in the UK. We achieve this by advancing the study of nursing and promoting excellence in nursing practice. The Foundation raises funds to provide scholarships for nurses and midwives to study at home or abroad, to provide innovation in practice and extend skills to meet the changing needs of patients.

Position: Head of Fundraising and Partnerships
Location: London office but flexibility for home working (must spend at least one day a week in office)
Contract type: Full time, permanent (flexible working hours will be considered)

Salary: circa £40,000 per annum

Closing Date: 4 October 2017
Interview Date: 20 October 2017

The Head of Fundraising and Partnerships is a new and crucially important role at the Florence Nightingale Foundation, a charity which has grown significantly over recent years and which has exciting ambitions to continue to offer increasing numbers of scholarships over the coming years, to maximise its impact on improving the care of patients in the UK.

We need an exceptional fundraiser and we are willing to be flexible in terms of working hours and location in order to find the right person who has the skills, track record and passion to undertake this exciting role.

You will work closely with the new Chief Executive to contribute to the further development of the organisational strategy and will then take responsibility for developing and implementing a new fundraising strategy to deliver the income requirements of the organisation (currently approximately £1.2 million).

The Foundation is fortunate to have a portfolio of supporters who have funded scholarships over a period of time or who have pledged support for the future. You will focus initially on cultivating existing (and previous) supporters of the Foundation; working to maintain and, where possible, increase their support. In order to achieve this, a solid track record in trust and statutory fundraising is essential. Ideally, you should have succeeded in securing six figure grants. Excellent relationship building and bid writing skills are a pre-requisite for this role.

You will then focus on developing new, loyal support for the Foundation; including developing and implementing a structured trust fundraising programme, exploring additional opportunities through NHS and other statutory bodies (working alongside the new Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive, who will identify leads and opportunities, using their clinical backgrounds and networks). You will also work with the Foundation’s Executive Assistant to deliver compelling communications about the Foundation’s work and to provide support and guidance to maximise income and support from alumni scholars.

In order to diversify the Foundation’s income, it is likely that the future fundraising strategy will also involve focusing on maximising income from corporate partnerships and from individual major donors. This role offers the exciting opportunity to bring about significant change in the Florence Nightingale Foundation’s ability to generate more sustainable income and to grow, to help more nurses to improve patient care in our country.

You must be used to working in a small charity as a sole fundraiser or as part of a small team and you must thrive on responsibility. As such, you should be self-sufficient, target-driven, determined to succeed and diplomatic.

You may have experience of the following: Head of Fundraising and Partnerships, Head of Fundraising, Head of Partnerships, Fundraising Manager, Partnerships Manager, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, NFP, Not for Profit etc.
