The Medical Research Foundation (MRF) is the independently-managed charity of the highly respected Medical Research Council.  It funds transformational biomedical research into a wide range of diseases, with a focus on under-funded conditions and research led by mid-career researchers with the potential to become the next research leaders.

To date the charity has been incredibly successful in generating largely unsolicited legacy income however, in its quest to answer some of the most pressing and under-resourced research questions of the next century, the MRF intends to implement a more ambitious and proactive fundraising strategy.

This new post offers the right individual a rare opportunity to create and build a new fundraising function in an established charity.  We have a clear fundraising strategy for the next three years, focusing on exploring activities within a select number of income streams.  We now need a Head of Fundraising to develop, test, implement and evaluate new fundraising activities.  We are a small team and we need someone who can will roll up their sleeves and build an outstanding fundraising function from scratch.

The MRF case for support is compelling: we benefit from the advice, infrastructure and reputation of the Medical Research Council; we have the ability to fund any area of biomedical research; and we have the full support of a small but dedicated team of professionals and Trustees.

You will need a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience.  Ideally you will have already had demonstrable success in major donor and/or legacy fundraising.  In return, we will support your professional development and offer a role in which you could make your mark.
