We are looking for an experienced Fundraising & Communication Manager to join our award winning Homeless Charity. Here at hyh we have recently celebrated winning "Hertfordshire Childrens Services Charity Partner of the Year".  This is a fantastic opportunity to lead our flexible working fundraising team.

Job purpose:

The Fundraising & Communications Manager will:

Contribute to overall hyh leadership and strategy as a member of the Executive Management Team (EMT), embracing the charity’s mission and values

Give strong strategic and operational leadership to the charity’s fundraising

Inspire, motivate and develop the team’s staff and volunteer workforce to ensure fundraising targets are deliveredLead the Fundraising and Communications team to deliver income generation and increase levels of voluntary income in line with hyh’s three year strategic plan

Work with the Fundraising & Communications subcommittee to develop a Communications plan and Digital strategy with implementation timetable

Develop an individual giving plan to increase regular giving to £16k in 2019

Work with hyh colleagues to create and implement strategies to communicate effectively, consistently and cohesively with hyh internal and external audiences in order to maximise awareness of our need for funding and volunteers. Raise the profile of hyh amongst key audiences

Manage, develop and update donor contact databases and website

Prepare annual income and fundraising budgets, track income monthly and provide recording and monitoring, reporting progress as seen necessary by the Trustees and EMT

Lead the team to provide excellent donor care for all fundraising activities, developing productive and lasting loyal relationships with supporters

Specific Duties:

Fundraising & Communications
Be accountable for the annual fundraised income target of £290k, monitoring and evaluating results in order to grow voluntary income, to help support the financial stability of hyh

Create and review a communications plan and Digital Strategy.
Overall responsibility for communications including social media, stakeholder newsletters, and annual reports

Building and evaluating hyh brand

Lead the fundraising team and make proposals for change, when appropriate, to deliver new changing objectives

Lead the Fundraising and Communications Team to produce communication plans that ensure online and offline media coverage, with the appropriate call to action for all fundraising streams; community and events, corporate and individual giving

Capture and refine the charity’s key messages to enable them to be communicated clearly and effectively to all stakeholders

Ensure that communications with supporters are effective, timely and appropriate

Have overall responsibility for the charity’s CRM database

Manage the grant application process and work with hyh staff to ensure that reporting is tracked and meets donors’ expectations

Work with the Director of Services to develop a stream of earned income in line with hyh’s strategic aims

Leadership and Managerial

Contribute to the overall strategic planning for hyh to enable it to deliver high quality services for young people and their families, those in crisis and individuals at risk of becoming homeless

Manage direct reports, carry out individual annual reviews and, through coaching, guidance and support, ensure the personal development and support needs of staff are met to assist them to reach their full potential

Ensure that roles and responsibilities for fundraising staff are clearly defined

Lead, review and assess volunteer recruitment to support the delivery of strategic aims and objectives, ensuring team volunteers are fully integrated

Work closely with Trustees, Chief Executive and EMT colleagues as part of a mutually supportive and effective leadership team

Financial planning and control, and reporting to Trustees

Responsible for Fundraising and Communication Income and Expenditure Budget

Contribute to the preparation of the income and expenditure budgets, financial projections and financial management information to submit to the Chief Executive and Trustees for approval

Analyse income to forecast future circumstances and requirements

Agree and monitor fundraising targets with the Chief Executive

Ensure restricted income is clearly identified and defined so that associated expenditure can be accurately identified

Work with Finance in relation to regular reporting against targets
