About us

For 25 years, Global Witness has been protecting human rights and the environment by fearlessly confronting corruption and the systems that enable it.

Many of the world’s worst environmental and human rights abuses are driven by the exploitation of natural resources and corruption in the global political and economic system. Global Witness is campaigning to end this. We carry out hard-hitting investigations, expose these abuses, and campaign for change.  We are independent, not-for-profit, and work with partners around the world in our fight for justice.

Over the years we have helped cut funding to the Khmer Rouge, brought blood diamonds and conflict minerals to the world’s attention, exposed how the corruption in the oil industry wrecks lives and habitats in some of the world’s poorest countries and gone undercover to show the how the global financial system makes such crimes possible.

Global Witness is in a strong position financially. We have had a steady increase in income from a range of long-term multi-year donors, as well as plans for further growth in the future.

We are now recruiting for a Grants Manager to help our fundraising team build on this success.

About the role

Working within a proactive and enthusiastic team, you will be contributing to our ambitious fundraising targets by identifying and cultivating trust and statutory fundraising opportunities.

You'll develop and sustain relationships with our current and prospective funders with a focus on diversifying opportunities.  You will proactively seek opportunities to increase our profile and income in fundraising and advocacy environments.

You'll write inspiring and successful applications to both UK and international prospects, providing log frames, risk registers and reports as required.

Finally, you will work with the Head of Grants to develop and implement a three-year Trust and Statutory fundraising strategy.

About you

You’ll bring your knowledge of successful cultivation of prospective and existing funders to maximise funding opportunities, along with your essential networking skills to bring Global Witness to the attention of donors.

Your proven track record in securing significant grants from trust and statutory donors will be key for this role, as well as your ability to provide account management and ongoing support to donors.

You will be an excellent collaborator, internally and externally, ensuring a smooth fundraising cycle across teams. Also, your ability to write persuasively and brilliant grant applications will be crucial.

Finally, you will be able to look beyond the here and now and bring creativity and vision to our grants strategy, working alongside the Head of Grants to bring it about.
