Fundraising and Communications Manager, Icon Theatre

Salary: Up to £30,000pa pro rata

Days: 3 days a week, ideally at least 2 in the office

Location: Brook Theatre, Chatham

One year contract initially, with opportunity for extension.

Based in Chatham, our work is shaped by the communities of Medway and north Kent, where we use a collective theatre approach to explore local stories, social issues and wider injustices, producing large-scale outdoor performances, nationally touring shows and a wide ranging community programme.  We create high quality work that promotes the authentic voice of participants and reflects a genuine sense of place.  We strive to be empowering and collaborative, inclusive, excellent and inspirational.

Recent fundraising and artistic successes have supported us to launch a new vision and strategic plan, and the appointment of a Fundraising and Communications Manager will be key in this new and exciting phase in our journey. 

The role will involve:

  • working with our Artistic Director to develop our Fundraising and Communications Strategies
  • researching, applying and securing funds from trusts and foundations
  • drafting, editing and managing communications for Icon Theatre, including newsletters, website and social media
  • developing an individual giving programme.

The successful candidate should:

  • have proven experience of writing successful grant applications to trusts and foundations (ideally in a theatre/ arts and culture environment) and managing communications with a range of stakeholders, funders and supporters
  • have good understanding or experience of developing individual giving programmes
  • have excellent creative writing and communication skills
  • be proactive, organised and believe in the capacity of excellent arts and culture to change lives and communities.
