About Ataxia UK

For over 50 years Ataxia UK has been the leading charity for people with ataxia, their families and carers. Ataxia is the name given to a group of life-limiting, neurological disorders that affect balance, coordination, and speech. There are many different types of ataxia that can affect people in different ways. Anyone of any age can get ataxia, but certain types are more common in certain age groups. For example, people with Friedreich’s ataxia are usually diagnosed in childhood or adolescence. There are at least 10,000 adults and around 500 children in the UK with a progressive ataxia. Some forms of ataxia are treatable, but in most cases there is still no cure. We are supporting research and putting all our efforts in trying to get treatments or cures for the ataxias.

Ataxia UK is entering an exciting period of growth with the launch of our new Strategic Plan (2017– 2020) which focusses on the needs and aspirations of people affected by ataxia. This is accompanied by a new Fundraising Strategy which will significantly increase our investment in fundraising and aims to double our income in the next five years.

This new post of Individual Giving Manager is fundamental to the delivery of this plan. The postholder will have the opportunity to develop the role and make a huge impact on the work and success of Ataxia UK.

The successful candidate will join a small, friendly team of 12 staff based at our office in Highgate Village.

Your understanding of individual giving will make a real difference!

Your job will be to manage the individual giving function. You will lead the development and management of Ataxia UK’s individual giving programmes and activities, including cash appeals, general donations, online donations, regular giving, merchandise, mid-level gifts, in memoriam giving and legacies, and seek to increase income from these sources. You will explore and test new income streams from individuals and look to increase supporter engagement through developing our donor journey.

Please apply providing a CV and covering letter addressing the requirements of the Person Specification. Interviews will be in the week of 24th July.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
