Are you a positive and enthusiastic community fundraiser who would like to work for a charity leading the way in type 1 diabetes research? If so we would love to hear from you. 

JDRF is the type 1 diabetes charity, improving lives until we find the cure.  We fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. We also provide information for children and adults living with the condition at all stages from diagnosis and beyond.  We give a voice to people with type 1 diabetes and campaign for an increased focus on and funding for research to find the cure.

By joining us as a Regional Fundraiser in London you will be joining our team of three and will be making a difference on a daily basis to those affected by type 1 diabetes.  You will be responsible for our community fundraising and a number of our key regional events including our Ride to Cure, and One Walk London.  This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop the London area whilst being supported by a fun, friendly and highly successful regional team.

In this fundraising role you will:

  • Have the opportunity to shape and grow our activities in Greater London.  Investing time in growing JDRF’s community fundraising, helping to build relationships with supporters in and around London.
  • Be responsible for organising a static cycling event in the city called the Ride to Cure Diabetes event, One Fun Runs and our One Walk London.
  • Engaging and supporting our fundraisers  who undertake challenges or join our fundraising campaigns during the year
  • Work with the Community Engagement Office to deliver our Discovery events in and around the London area. These are Information events for people who have a connection with type 1 diabetes.
  • Develop key relationships with our supportive donors as well as groups and businesses in the area
  • Help to raise awareness of the charity in local schools and organisations
  • Work with volunteers to help spread the important message of JDRF

Key requirements for this role are: 

  • Previous experience working in a fundraising, sales, or marketing background
  • Experience of managing, negotiating and motivating individuals or groups
  • Excellent communication and IT skills with a fine attention to detail
  • Experience in event management  and supporter relations

This role is far-reaching and presents a great opportunity to improve fundraising skills across a number of disciplines.  You will be expected to travel in and outside on London of a regular basis, meeting with supporters and supporting organisations that are raising funds for JDRF.

What is the role?

As the  a member of our East and London Region Team you will be responsible  for community fundraising covering London West (which includes Oxford, Bedfordshire, Herts)  plus a number of regional events including our Ride to Cure, One Walk London and One Fun Runs.

What will I be doing?

You will develop our work in the region by building relationships with supporters, groups, schools and business to help raise awareness about our work and generate  fundraising income. Through setting up regional development groups, meeting with supporters, presenting our work to schools and groups.

In addition you will be responsible for managing our some of our key events including our Ride to Cure, One Walk London and One Fun Runs.

What skills and experience do I need?

You will need to be excellent at building successful relationships, organised and able  to communicate with staff at all levels.  You will have experience of community fundraising and organising events where you have delivered to and exceeded targets.
