Join Julia's House and be part of our passionate, dedicated team where you can make a real difference to the lives of others.

Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice. We provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.  We tailor our care to the needs of each individual child and their family, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at our two hospices, across Dorset and Wiltshire.  We have big aspirations to ensure no child is turned away from our care and are looking to develop our fundraising team, to help us achieve our ambitious goals.

The Philanthropy Manager will be based at our Head Office in Poole and cover Dorset and Wiltshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to head up the Philanthropy Fundraising team in Julia’s House. You will develop, manage and implement a well-established Philanthropy Fundraising programme, which includes high net-worth individuals, Trust Fundraising and Celebrity Patrons.

You will have:

  • Extensive relevant fundraising experience, with direct line management of a team, demonstrating leadership and motivation

  • An excellent track record of fundraising from at least two of the following areas: major donors, corporate or trust fundraising

  • Proven ability to write funding proposals and reports to a very high standard

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • The ability and confidence to successfully ask supporters and funders for major gifts

Duties:

  • Development, manage and implementation of the Philanthropy giving programme
  • Management of the Philanthropy income and expenditure budgets – setting annual targets and objectives and contributing to the supervision and appraisal process

  • Event planning and management to maximise the return from Philanthropy fundraising

  • Identification, relationship building and account management of high net-worth supporters, Trusts and Patrons

  • Ask for and secure significant gifts from major donors and prospects

The successful candidate will report to the Development Director and as a member of the fundraising management team, will be results-orientated.  A flare for organisation and innovation is key, whilst being prepared to be hands-on when required.

A driving licence and use of a vehicle for business purposes are essential for this role.

Julia’s House offers a range of benefits, including generous pension scheme, 30 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, Cycle to Work Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme and Death in Service scheme.

Closing date:  Sunday 10 February 2019

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 26 February 2019
