It’s an exciting time to be joining the team at Acorns. We’ve got a great deal to celebrate and give thanks for as we look towards our 30th Anniversary next year, but our challenge now is to ensure that the vital care and support services we provide for children and their families continues to make a difference for the next 30 years and beyond. The role of Legacy and In Memory Manager will play a pivotal role in making this a reality.

Are you organised and focused with experience of legacy or legal administration? Are you just as comfortable reviewing and questioning Estate accounts as you are talking to a legacy enquirer or recently bereaved supporter over the phone?

If so, this could be your chance to make a real impact. We firmly believe that every child and family in our region who needs our support should receive it, so as a fundraising team we are raising significant funds to help us achieve our vision of being there for each and every one of them. This is why we need someone like you to join our Individual Giving Team and ensure we maximise income today and inspire vital support for the future.

About the role
This is a newly created role reporting to the Individual Giving Manager. Responsible for maximising income from a legacy pipeline worth in excess of £2m, you will be the champion for legacy and in memory giving across the organisation. You will also be the first point of contact for supporters wishing to make a legacy pledge, an in memory donation or set up a tribute fund, with responsibility for sensitively and confidently nurturing and growing these vital relationships and income streams.

In conjunction with the individual giving manager, you will draft and implement marketing plans for legacy giving, in memory and tribute income.

About you
You will have significant experience in legacy or legal administration processes, as well as a strong level of knowledge and understanding of probate and associated laws relating to charitable legacies. You will be able to review and question Estate accounts, and make recommendations when necessary. You will have a track record of successfully managing and developing relationships with individual supporters, customers or clients and will have the ability to communicate effectively, empathetically, concisely and confidently on the telephone, in writing and in person to a wide and varied audience. A ‘can do’ attitude is a must, as well as the ability to work well as part of a team.
