Fundraiser - Major Donors

Do you want to be part of something special in a varied and rewarding role?  We are looking for a dynamic Major Donor fundraiser to join our unique charity and support our expansion project.

Scotts Project Trust, based in Tonbridge, Kent, supports and cares for adults with learning disabilities by delivering excellent services in a friendly, nurturing environment where people gain the confidence and skills to lead fulfilled, happy and independent lives.

Our Development Centre is a daily hub for learning and socialising and offers a broad curriculum that caters to a range of skills and hobbies.  Over 70 people per week attend to learn life skills, develop their self confidence and gain skills for work. We are based in a beautiful setting with therapeutic benefits and our unique combination of life skills and performing arts means we are expanding horizons for adults with a learning disability.  There is a growing demand for day services, we are currently at full capacity and need to expand our services in order to reach more students who need access to these resources.

We are launching an exciting 2 year project to expand the range and capacity of sessions – from 70 to 120 students and a complete refurb and extension of our current premises.  We want to extend the existing space to provide further classrooms, as well as access and facilities for people with a physical disability including adding a sensory room and installing additional disabled WC facilities.

The estimated cost is £500,000 over a period of 2 years, so if you are looking for a challenging, worthwhile and exciting project to fundraise for, then we want to hear from you.

Reporting directly to the CEO, and liaising with our Community Fundraiser you will take the lead on major campaigns - researching and targeting new opportunities and liaising with existing supporters and groups (Charitable Trusts, Corporates, Foundations, Individuals) to meet our fundraising goals.

As well as relationship management and developing existing donors, a fundamental part of the role is the identification of potential donors and experience of success in this area is essential.

You will assume the overall lead in developing the broader fundraising and marketing strategy in order to increase income streams, gain new relationships and maximise our supporters. You will produce high quality marketing materials (including providing input to website enhancement, use of social media, etc), funding applications and tender bids, ensuring that income targets are met to fund our expansion successfully.

You will be educated to degree level, with a broad knowledge of planning and implementing fundraising initiatives and will need to demonstrate a track record in the following areas:-

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to motivate, influence and get  the best out of supporters. A creative and pro-active approach to fundraising is also vital along with strong knowledge of the full range of income streams.
  • Strong research skills, creative and concise report writing and project management
  • Evidence of gaining and developing successful Corporate Partnerships
  • Funding applications and tender bid writing
  • Strategic and creative thinker with a tenacious and ambitious outlook
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience within the charity sector or a similar professional environment.

In return we offer a competitive rate of pay (negotiable for the right candidate) and a significant amount of flexibility including homebased working.  The hours are 12-15 per week, to be worked on a contractor/freelance basis for a period of 2 years.

In the first instance, please send your CV and a brief covering letter to Kerry Aston, Human Resources.

Closing date: 3rd March 2017
