Motivation Charitable Trust is an international development charity improving the quality of life of disabled people living in some of the world’s poorest countries. Our holistic approach has been referred to as "innovation leading to mainstream change" and external evaluations have described our work as “hugely appropriate and transformative” creating positive and “permanent change” for the people we support. In 2016 our projects had a direct impact on 20,000 people and touched the lives of a further 60,000 people globally through our collaborations and influence. Yet we know we must do more!

Having just celebrated our 25th anniversary Motivation has bold plans for the future and the UK office is looking for a motivated fundraiser to join its team in Bristol. You will become a part of a small dynamic Fundraising & Communications team of four, and will play an integral role in identifying and building significant new relationships with individuals and corporates.

This is a new post and reflects a need to grow unrestricted income in particular to meet and sustain Motivation’s current and future activities in line with the organisation’s three year strategic plan. The team currently generates unrestricted fundraising income in the region of £600,000 each year and contributes to annual restricted fundraising targets of over £1million. In 2016 35% of our unrestricted fundraising came from Trusts & Foundations and the remainder was made up from a variety of sources including Individual Giving, Major Donors, Corporates, Community and Events. Having undertaken analysis of current giving patterns and donor trends we would now like to grow our income from high net worth individuals and the corporate sector. At the same time we are looking to diversify our income streams for restricted income in order to maximise our impact and you will help play an important role in project funding too.

We are therefore looking for an experienced fundraiser, who is a self-starter with strong experience in these areas, with a particular focus on identifying and building new relationships. You will need to be passionate about the work we do and able to translate this into communicating our funding needs to prospective donors that you have identified as being suitable partners. You will be proactive in recommending donors and opportunities, confident making requests for funding and able to close deals effectively in order to meet targets.

In return we can offer a stimulating and challenging environment where your efforts will create a tangible impact on the lives of disabled adults and children and their families.
