Freedom from Torture has been working for more than 30 years to provide direct clinical services to survivors of torture who arrive in the UK, as well as striving to protect and promote their rights. Since our inception, over 50,000 individuals have been referred for help. Thanks to the dedication of staff and volunteers – as well as our passionate supporters and funders – thousands of torture survivors have been able to rebuild their lives in incredibly difficult circumstances.

As the only organisation in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of survivors of torture and organised violence, Freedom from Torture takes a holistic approach to rehabilitation, catering for the complex needs of survivors. We provide  tailored psychological therapies, forensic documentation of torture , as well as practical help such as legal and welfare advice for people who have survived horrific abuses of their human rights.

In recent years we’ve been growing our major giving income stream significantly.  With ambitious strategic plans for the next 10 years, we are looking to build on this success.  We are looking for someone who has a great track record in growing income through relationship building with high net worth individuals. You’ll need a strategic approach, fantastic relationship building skills plus a keen interest in human rights and transforming the lives of survivors of torture.

You will lead and motivate a small team and have access to a Prospect Researcher to build an income base to support our inspirational work.

Within this role, you will:

• Oversee and develop a prospect research strategy to ensure that prospect management systems are in place

• Build productive relationships with high net worth individuals

• Lead and oversee the development and implementations of major donor stewardship and  cultivation events

• Work with the CEO, Chair of Trustees and other key senior staff  and volunteers to solicit and secure significant gifts

• Work with the Special Events Manager and Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser to maximise opportunities for high value audiences

With significant experience of fundraising, you’ll be a natural leader, used to securing five and six figure major gifts from high net worth individuals. In addition, you will possess excellent written, verbal, organisation and IT skills and will be an exceptional communicator with sound knowledge of the principals of major donor fundraising and data protection.

If you believe you have the skills we are looking for and possess excellent customer service skills, a proven track record of maintaining a high standard of bespoke donor care, and experience of developing and implementing strategies, then we’d love to hear from you.
