Major Supporter Relationships Officer

London, E1

c. £27,000 pa depending on experience | 35 hours per week

  • Are you a process-driven individual with a sound knowledge of major donor fundraising or a comparable skill set gained in the commercial sector?
  • Are you a forward thinking self-starter looking to take your existing experience to the next level with a face paced and forward thinking digitally-focused charity?

If this sounds like you, the role of Major Supporter Relationships Officer at Asthma UK could be just what you’re looking for.

What the role involves

This is an exciting time to join the team as we are in the early phases of a £2m fundraising appeal to fund a pioneering research centre which will help us reach our ambition to stop asthma attacks and cure asthma. The Major Supporter team is integral to the fundraising plans of the charity and we have ambitions to grow our income even further over the next few years.

You will play a key operational role in our success as we continue to grow our major donor fundraising strategy. We are looking for a highly focused individual with an excellent knowledge of the principles of major donor fundraising or transferable skills who can help support our growth of this vital income stream.

You will need:

  • An understanding of relationship building, processes and techniques of working with high value customers
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to deliver to deadline and under pressure
  • At least two years’ experience of working within a major donor fundraising environment or equivalent environment within a commercial team with high standards in customer care
  • Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels

Come and make a difference!

There is nothing as terrifying as the feeling of not being able to breathe or watching helplessly as a loved one struggles for breath. Although asthma affects 1 in 5 households in the UK it is, mistakenly, seen to be ‘sorted’. It’s not. In the UK today, every 10 seconds someone has a potentially fatal asthma attack. Every day the lives of three families are devastated by the death of a loved one to an asthma attack. Tragically, the majority of these could be prevented right now with the right basic care. Others still suffer with asthma so severe current treatments don’t work. This has to change. That’s why Asthma UK exists.

This is a great place to work

With around 80 people, we are a tight team working together successfully to stop asthma attacks and cure asthma. Our recent staff survey reports that although we have a decidedly high performance culture, it’s probably the friendliest place most people have worked with great opportunities for development. So, if you have sales or fundraising experience and a passion to drive forward relationships to help people with asthma, we’d love to hear from you.
