The Prince's Trust is a youth charity that helps change young lives. We give practical and financial support, developing key workplace skills, such as confidence and motivation. We work with 11 to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. We have helped more than 825,000 young people since 1976 and support 100 more each working day. More than three in four young people we helped last year moved into work, education or training. An exciting opportunity to be part of our Programmes and Development directorate which ensures that the Trust's support for young people is the best it can be, through enhancing the quality and relevance of support at every step of the young person's journey.

While The Prince's Trust is not a specialist mental health charity, we believe that mental health should not be a barrier to young people having the chance to succeed.

The post holds primary responsibility for the implementation of The Trust's mental health strategy including; embedding a culture which promotes and supports good mental health and ensuring a consistent approach to dealing with young people with mental health issues.

The successful candidate will have;

  • An understanding of challenges faced by young people with Mental Health challenges
  • An understanding of Mental Health policy, direction and strategic development
  • Knowledge of relevant Mental Health networks and public sector bodies
  • A degree (or equivalent) in relevant field e.g. psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, social work
  • Professional membership of BACP, BABCP, BPS, or equivalent

They will also have experience including working directly with young people and building / managing relationships with partner organisations to benefit vulnerable people or provide support for staffThe Prince's Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check.
