Orchid Project has a vision of a world free from female genital cutting (FGC).  We are a small but growing, dynamic charity with a proven track record of delivering programmes, advocacy and communications work in support of an end to FGC.

The part-time Fundraising Officer will work in support of all of Orchid Project’s fundraising activity,

reporting to the Sr. Fundraising Manager, and working closely with the entire Orchid team to implement the fundraising strategy. This is a 60% role – ideal for someone looking for an exciting challenge in a part-time capacity.

You will have an understanding of diverse forms of fundraising, and some experience in one or more of the following areas: securing income from trusts and foundations, cultivating major donors, planning fundraising events, or developing online fundraising for individual giving. You will be happy working with donors at all levels of giving and will have a strong sense of how to inspire people to support our work.

Role Description

Income Generation

  • Work closely with the Senior Fundraising Manager to implement fundraising strategy across all income streams and implement the donor stewardship strategy
  • Trusts and foundations: research trusts and foundations in the UK and overseas, draft applications and reports, provide support in preparing presentations
  • Major donors: research potential major donors, support relationship building and stewardship of major donors, support preparation for pitches
  • Community fundraising: support community fundraisers (e.g. people undertaking challenge events, holding small fundraising events for Orchid Project)
  • Events: support the planning and successful implementation of Orchid Project fundraising events
  • Fundraising processes: support all OP fundraising processes, including updating and maintaining Salesforce CRM, processing donations, thanking donors, processing Gift Aid claims
  • Assist in strengthening institutional infrastructure of Orchid Project by capturing fundraising processes and knowledge
  • Act as a representative of Orchid Project to external stakeholders and at events as needed

Fundraising Communications

  • Work with the Senior Fundraising Manager and Communications Manager to develop fundraising content for all Orchid communications including print appeals, online giving through our website, and Orchid Project social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter)
  • Develop informative, interesting marketing materials together with the team, including e-newsletters, annual report, etc.

Other tasks as they arise – Orchid Project is a small team in an entrepreneurial environment and you may be required to undertake tasks outside of your job description from time to time.
