Imagine not being able to move, sleep, or smile. Feeling anxious or depressed and struggling to think or remember. Your body not feeling like your own. This is what Parkinson's can feel like.

Every hour, two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's - a brain condition that turns lives upside down, leaving a future full of uncertainty.

Parkinson’s UK is an ambitious and dynamic charity, passionate about improving the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson’s and finding better treatments and a cure. You could be part of helping us achieve this.

About the role

The Parkinson’s UK Regional Fundraising team are a dynamic and creative large team of highly skilled fundraisers, managers and support team members who aim to raise over 3.75milion in 2018 by growing local fundraising and community support in the areas they cover.

We are currently recruiting for a maternity cover position for a part time role of Northern Ireland Fundraiser. This is an exciting and varied role, with the opportunity to support, motivate and grow a diverse portfolio of individual fundraisers, community groups, local contacts and volunteers and develop and deliver a number of our successful Walk for Parkinson’s events. This role works part time on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday alongside our other Northern Ireland Fundraiser who works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The role gives the opportunity to shape local fundraising in the region through the delivery of a bespoke three year plan and gives the post holder the autonomy to take risks and trial new fundraising ideas in order to reach financial and non-financial targets for their area.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Regional Fundraisers, local staff and the wider Fundraising Directorate to provide support and share ideas on developing the local area. There will be opportunities to participate in project work developing new fundraising ideas and improvements to processes which will have an impact across the Regional Fundraising team.

Skills, knowledge and experience

Have you got the attitude and skills to be part of our high-performing and innovative team?

You must be flexible and self-motivated, with a proven background of managing your own workload to meet challenging targets and deadlines. You should be a self-starter, who would relish the chance to try new things and take risks as well as helping to deliver team-wide initiatives and projects.

You should be a real people-person, with the ability to work with, motivate and support a range of stakeholders including prospective donors, colleagues, Parkinson’s UK local groups, members and volunteers.

The position will be based from your home and you must live in or within reasonable travelling distance to the area covered.  You need to be able to travel around the region without reliance on public transport and if you will be driving, you need to have held your full UK driving licence for a minimum of one year.
