Main purpose of job

Reporting to the Administrative Director, the Partnerships Manager will be responsible for managing FIGO’s relationship with / securing funds from institutional donors, foundations, corporate sponsors and legacies.

Job context

The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) is the only organisation that brings together professional societies of obstetricians and gynecologists on a global basis. For over 60 years FIGO has collaborated with the world's top health and donor bodies. FIGO currently has Member Societies in 130 countries / territories. FIGO is dedicated to the improvement of women’s health and rights and to the reduction of disparities in healthcare available to women and newborns, as well as to advancing the science and practice of obstetrics and gynecology. The organisation pursues its mission through advocacy, programmatic activities, capacity strengthening of Member Associations, education and training.

The role of Partnerships Manager is newly created and sits within the FIGO Secretariat Team. The role has been designed to secure new funding to meet our strategic objectives, to effectively maintain our existing supporter relationships and to optimise the funding from our programmatic and Committee / Working Group activities.

Major responsibilities

  • With the Administrative Director, review FIGO’s existing activities in respect of institutional donors, foundations, corporate sponsors and legacies and develop an appropriate fundraising strategy.
  • To implement the fundraising strategy and raise agreed levels of income from each of the categories
  • Develop an accountability framework and carefully monitor funding commitments to ensure compliance
  • Ensure excellent relationship exists with all partnerships, both existing and new partners.

Specific responsibilities

Grants & Foundations

  • Maintain positive and productive relationships with existing foundations
  • Identify new potential relationships with foundations  who are in step with the aims and values of FIGO
  • Develop and design  high quality funding proposals / tenders / bids, which are consistent with FIGO strategy, and which align with donor priorities and requirements
  • Maintain an overview of contract reporting schedules across FIGO, ensuring colleagues are aware of reporting and accountability timelines and donor requirements
  • Support teams to ensure the timely submission of high quality narrative and financial reports
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of grants management and compliance systems and support internal approval and quality control systems
  • Participate in cross-organisational initiatives and processes, particularly related to those that monitor fundraising and financial performance
  • Ensure effective input from, and work collaboratively with, staff from programme and Secretariat teams and Committee and Working Group Chairs on the development of proposals and budgets
  • Coordinate partnership communications to internal stakeholders i.e. FIGO staff, officers, member societies and Committees & Working Group chairs and to external stakeholders i.e. new and existing supporters

Sponsorship

  • To develop high quality, commercially successful event sponsorship models and products, in line with the FIGO’s Sponsorship, Grants and Donations Policy.
  • To secure event sponsorship and exhibition income and achieve income targets with respect to FIGO Conferences and Events
  • Build and maintain strong external relationships with potential sponsors, corporate partners, and supporters, through securing and leading new business meetings, and maintaining effective relationships
  • Writing high quality external communications documents, including sponsorship marketing materials as required (working closely with the Conference Manager)
  • Ensure that all approaches are tracked consistently, through effective use of a CRM system or tracking spreadsheet.
  • Ensure that FIGO’s reputation for independence is not compromised by our sponsorship models.

Legacies

  • To lead on the development and implementation of the legacies strategy, developing annual plans and budgets in order to grow the legacy prospect and pledger databases
  • To develop appropriate, personalised supporter journeys for legacy prospects and pledgers, ensuring the delivery of an outstanding supporter experience
  • To work across other FIGO departments to identify and target legacy prospects within the existing supporter base and potential legacy audiences across the organisation's networks
  • To work closely with the FIGO member societies  to develop significant legacy marketing campaigns
  • To raise funds for the charity by promoting gifts in wills and in memoriam giving, in line with FIGO strategy.
