Your new employer:

Place2Be is a leading children’s mental health charity providing in-school support and expert professional development to improve the emotional well-being of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff.

In the last year we have worked with over 900 schools across England, Scotland and Wales, reaching a school population in excess of 142,000 children and young people, helping them to cope with wide-ranging and often complex social issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, family breakdown, neglect and trauma.

Our teams provide a range of services in our partner schools to build resilience early in life through counselling, creative work and play, and by supporting a child’s ability to engage in school life.

Our mission is to help build "mentally healthy" schools and communities where children can thrive and grow up with prospects rather than problems.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit an exceptional Community Fundraising Manager to grow our community fundraising portfolio.  You will be joining a small but dynamic team consisting of a Head of Community and Events and a Challenge Events Manager (who is covering a colleague on maternity leave) with a team target of just over £600,000 in 2019/20. At a time when interest in children’s mental health has never been stronger, this is an exciting time to be joining our dynamic organisation and make a real and tangible difference to children’s futures.

This area of fundraising is reasonably new to the organisation and there is plenty of scope to be innovative. We believe there is huge potential for growth and have the investment budgets and ambition to help bring this about. Proactive, results-driven and commercially aware, you will enjoy collaborating with others.

We are seeking a natural and strategic leader and an excellent relationship builder to shape the future direction for community activity and challenge events at Place2Be. You will need to have experience of devising and implementing successful business plans for community fundraisers, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and superb project management skills.

As the successful candidate you’ll be able to demonstrate the following as part of your application:

  • Strong track record of achieving income targets – both personally and through leading a team of fundraisers
  • Extensive track record of planning, resourcing, implementing and monitoring a wide variety of mass participation activities; including one or both of community fundraising and challenge events
  • Experience of devising and implementing robust income generation strategies and business plans
  • Extensive experience of managing budgets
  • Experience of developing and implementing new fundraising ideas
  • Track record of managing financially productive relationships with volunteers
  • Line management experience with demonstrable commitment to staff development and progression
  • A team leader and player. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate and influence others through both verbal and written media and demonstrates the ability to build effective partnerships

In return we offer you a range of fantastic benefits including:

  • Amazing offices in the heart of the city, a brisk walk from Farringdon Station
  • Enhanced Annual Leave entitlement
  • Robust Learning and Development Programme
  • Contributory Pension Scheme
  • Life Assurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Cycle purchase and season ticket loan schemes
  • Extended maternity/paternity pay

A supportive organisation we offer strong and clear leadership as well as a fantastic working environment to ensure your early success.
