Relief International (RI) is a leading non-profit organization working in 20 countries to relieve poverty, ensure well-being and advance dignity.  We specialize in fragile settings, responding to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and chronic poverty.

Relief International’s global support functions are based across our head offices in the United States and the United Kingdom. This geographical mix fosters collaboration and maximizes the resources we are able to deploy for the delivery of services in the countries.

The Deputy Director of Development and Communication is a newly created role.  This is a chance to make a significant impact and bring your expertise to establish our fundraising programme for individuals, foundations and corporations. The department has an annual global revenue goal of $5 million.  You will help drive a strategic vision for integrated development and communications for unrestricted and flexible revenue, with a focus on establishing a European program.

Your role will be working closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees, this is a great opportunity for executive level experience and personal development. We are looking for someone who will drive a joint expansion of public relations and create our first unrestricted revenue plan.

You will increase revenue through frontline fundraising, targeting donors and prospects in the European market, with a primary focus on major gifts and foundation grants and a secondary focus on digital small-sum donations.

You will have proven success in front line fundraising the UK and Europe, preferably in an international relief or development context. Your previous experience of individual major gifts and foundations together with your excellent verbal and written communication skills will be essential to this role.

Proficiency in French would be an advantage and some travel may be required by the post holder. Note that in some instances you may be required to travel to our project location where they are under difficult conditions in some of the most underdeveloped, insecure and remote parts of the world.

As a forward-thinking organisation, we are able to discuss with each individual applicant their needs with regards to working hours. We are able to consider a variation on working days and hours and flexible working practises on a case by case basis, so we would encourage applicants to apply as long as they have the relevant experience and passion for Relief International’s values.

Please apply by following the application link and simply upload your cover letter and up-to-date CV on our website.

Due to limited resources only short-listed candidates will be contacted. Please note that to be considered for this role you must be able to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the UK.

Relief International is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
