Associate Director, Individual Giving & Legacies

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Kew, London

Competitive salary and benefits

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a global resource for plant science and conservation and the world’s leading botanic garden.

We work across our sites in Kew and Wakehurst, and in countries around the world with global partners.  Our purpose is to safeguard the diversity of the Earth’s ecosystems by understanding and protecting the world’s plant life.  We want a world where plants and fungi are understood, valued, and conserved – because all our lives and livelihoods depend on them.

Over 350 people work in Kew Science, each contributing to global knowledge of plant life on our planet.  We have the world’s largest and most diverse collection of plants, and the world’s largest fungarium.  To tackle the urgent and immediate global threats, we need to expand and protect our collections, and make them fully accessible for scientific research.

Philanthropy and memberships play a key role in enabling our work.  To help solve some of the critical challenges facing humanity today, we are looking for two passionate and talented fundraisers to contribute to our success, in an Associate Director, Individual Giving & Legacies and a Development Manager, Major Gifts.

As Associate Director, Individual Giving & Legacies you will report to the Director of Development and be responsible for developing and executing the Individual Giving strategy for Kew, and leading the team to increase the number of individual supporters, engaging them in a lifelong journey of support, and increasing the value of donations and legacies.

Your success in this role will be underpinned by your successful track record in delivering fundraising income from individuals in a comparable organisation, across annual, mid-level, commemorative and legacy giving.  Your sophisticated, imaginative and flexible approach to developing relationships has led you to achieve outstanding results in your career to date. An inclusive and collaborative leadership style will galvanise your team and help you win the confidence of those around you, and inspire colleagues towards realising the ambitions of Kew.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 23:59, ON MONDAY, 11 NOVEMBER 2019.
