Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Head of Development

Barbican, London

Competitive salary and benefits

The Guildhall School of Music & Drama is a vibrant, international community of young musicians, actors and production artists in the heart of the City of London. Founded in 1880 and located within the Barbican complex, the Guildhall School sits at the heart of one of London’s most dynamic cultural areas. We produce outstanding graduates – from Daniel Craig to Bryn Terfel, Jodie Whittaker to Alison Balsom - whose talents light up stages, screens and concert platforms throughout the world.

This is an exciting time to join the Guildhall School, with the founding of Culture Mile - a major destination for culture and creativity - and significant investment having been made in the School’s Development and Alumni Relations (DARO) team.  Reporting to the Vice Principal & Director of Advancement, you will lead a talented and high achieving Development and Alumni Relations team.  Working closely with other senior managers to contribute to the leadership of the Guildhall School, you will play a key role in achieving ambitious fundraising and alumni engagement targets.

You are confident in your ability to operate at this strategic level and have substantial experience of working with leading philanthropists and funding bodies to deliver highly successful income generating activities.  To succeed in this role, you will be an inspirational, inclusive and collaborative leader with experience of leading and motivating teams.  Your imaginative and flexible approach to achieving outstanding results and approachable manner will help you quickly gain the trust of those around you, and inspire donors to support the Guildhall School and its work in developing outstanding young artists.
