Competitive Salary & Benefits

At the National Trust, we have worked to protect places of historic interest and natural beauty for over 120 years. We look after a quarter of a million hectares of land and countryside, 775 miles of coastline, and thousands of archaeological monuments and historic buildings – and that’s an expensive task. We are incredibly grateful for the support our 5 million members but we also rely on donations and legacies to enable our vital conservation work. That’s why we have an exciting and ambitious strategy in place to increase our fundraising to £100 million pounds by 2025. To help us achieve this ambition, we’re introducing this critical new role to expand our thriving fundraising team.

This role and the central Fundraising team are based at our head office in Swindon. We are open to flexible working, but applicants must be able to spend a minimum of two days a week in Swindon.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Fundraising Services to ensure we have the systems, processes and resources in place to support ambitious fundraising targets and report on performance. As the lead for fundraising services within the Trust, you will liaise with the ‘Heads of’ major income streams within the fundraising team and work  closely with the new Support and Revenue operations team, along with data protection, legal and finance. You’ll lead a high performing team of fundraising services professionals covering systems, donations processing, compliance, data management, prospect research and both financial and non-financial reporting. Familiar with the regulatory landscape for fundraising, you will take a strategic view of our systems and processes, ensuring we’re meeting the relevant data protection, recording and reporting requirements. Most excitingly, You’ll have the wonderful opportunity to help shape this newly-created role.

We’re looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking and planning with pragmatism and flexibility. You’ll be familiar with working in fundraising services environment, with deep expertise in relationship databases and a sound working knowledge of fundraising regulations and data protection legislation. An inspiring team leader with high standards, you’ll be able to motivate and cohere a diverse range of team members to enable excellent service provision to the wider fundraising team.
