We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Marketing Executive to join our Legacy team at the RSPCA. Supported by the Marketing Executive you will be responsible for delivering direct marketing activities to recruit legacy prospects that will primarily be new supporters to the RSPCA.

The RSPCA is the largest Animal Welfare charity in the UK.  Every year thousands of animals suffer from neglect, cruelty and abuse. The RSPCA is dedicated to the prevention of suffering to all animals. The charity is funded by donations and fundraising, without these funds from our fabulous supporters we wouldn't be able to help animals in need.

The Legacy Marketing team is responsible for activities that recruit, convert and retain supporters that will grow and maintain the Society’s largest income stream. This role is vital to raising awareness and maximising response through mass direct marketing activities, directly or via the Legacy Marketing Executive. 

Working with the Legacy Marketing Manager, you will develop and implement strategic objectives and plans to maximise the potential income from new supporters to the RSPCA that will commit to leaving a gift in their Will.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Support the Legacy Marketing Manager Recruitment by providing input on an annual basis into the strategic and tactical planning. Identify new opportunities for growth and make recommendations on how to implement. 

  • Activation of annual plans through the planning, development and implementation of supporter acquisition campaigns across all integrated direct channels (including DRTV, digital, social, press, radio), managing the marketing executive to ensure campaigns are delivered on time ensuring KPI’s are achieved for response and projected ROI and expenditure.

  • Work with media agency to plan effective and efficient campaigns that perform to the required targets, briefing the development of, and interrogating, media plans

  • Support the Legacy Marketing Manager Recruitment and work directly with the Senior Legacy Marketing Executive Development to ensure plans are in place to convert recruited supporters through to leaving a gift in their Will. 

  • Monitor, report and analyse campaigns and share with stakeholders making recommendations for future activity. 

  • Ensure standards are set and adhered to for all internal processes in accordance with wider RSPCA policy and the management of campaign activity including high quality creative, briefing and targeting across all supporter recruitment activity addressing any issues as they arise. Ensure internal approvals process is followed. 

  • Manage agencies and external suppliers, from point of contract, ensuring they operate on behalf of the RSPCA to agreed principles and plans, picking up any issues escalated by the Marketing Executive and using negotiation and persuasion to drive results where necessary. 

  • Manage, motivate, coach and direct report to ensure they have the ability, skills and knowledge to perform their role as required. Includes setting objectives and regularly measuring against them, and introducing and maintaining performance management processes as required. 

  • Monitor transfer of data, including confidential supporter information, between third party suppliers and the RSPCA website and the database. 

  • Develop processes to improve performance and efficiency 

You’ll have: 

  • Degree level education or equivalent is essential.

  • Running direct marketing campaigns across multiple channels including Direct Response Television, Digital and Direct Mail

  • Extensive end to end marketing campaign management experience (planning, target setting, creative development, media targeting, print production, analysis)

  • Budget management, including setting, monitoring and managing expenditure and income

  • Proven experience of managing supplier and agency relationships

  • At least two years managing at least one direct report, with experience of managing staff performance

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers

  • Highly numerate with strong analysis skills and attention to detail

  • Strong knowledge of using data in marketing

  • A proven ability to analyse and interpret results and translate this analysis into action

  • Ability to develop new ideas and translate them into effective action plans

  • Ability to lead people and projects

  • Good working knowledge of standard office packages and databases

  • Highly motivated with ability to work on own initiative

  • Collaborative working style
