Fundraising Assistant - £22,000

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Location: Office based; Old Street, London N1

Reports to: Head of Individual Giving and Supporter Care

Job purpose:

To provide administrative support across all areas of Sarcoma UK’s fundraising activity. This is a support role providing opportunities to learn about, and get involved in, a range of fundraising streams in a growing charity with an emphasis on role development.

Duties and key responsibilities:

1. To maximise donations from supporters

  • Monitor general fundraising inbox, forwarding on queries to the appropriate member of the team.
  • Answer general donation and fundraising queries by telephone, passing call onto the appropriate member of the team.
  • Offer a high level of fundraising advice and support.
  • Put together and send out fundraising packs.
  • Monitor and log all fundraising forms, e.g. event applications, that are submitted through Sarcoma UK’s website. Liaise with the appropriate member of staff to ensure supporters are then contacted within Sarcoma UK’s timeframe guidelines.
  • Assist with Sarcoma UK’s prospect research.
  • Assist organisation of Sarcoma UK’s fundraising campaigns and mass participation events, such as the London Marathon.
  • Attend Sarcoma UK’s fundraising events, providing event assistance on the day and high level of supporter care to attendees.
  • Monitor and record fundraisers’ details that are submitted through third party websites, such as JustGiving. Liaise with the appropriate member of staff to ensure supporters are then contacted within Sarcoma UK’s guideline timeframe.

2. To assist Sarcoma UK’s individual giving programme

  • Co-ordinate all thank you letters to individual givers, regular givers and community fundraisers.
  • Work with colleagues in fundraising, operations and finance to ensure all donors and fundraisers are thanked and stewarded in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Keep thank you letters up to date by regularly refreshing copy.
  • Recognise when a donor or fundraiser has gone above and beyond, and flag with the Head of Individual Giving and Supporter Care to manage appropriately.
  • Maintain Sarcoma UK’s high standard of supporter care.

3. To provide administrative support for the Fundraising team

  • Maintain accurate and up to date supporter records on Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Manage the fundraising stock, keeping accurate records of use and flagging with the appropriate member of staff when levels are becoming low.
  • Provide general administrative assistance across all fundraising areas and projects as required by the organisation’s needs.
  • Follow Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures to ensure consistent approach and maintain high level of support expected by our donors and fundraisers.

4. General

  • Contribute to the general office administration, running and development of the organisation e.g. answering the main telephone.
  • The post holder will be working in a developing environment and he/she will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

Other

  1. The role is office based. The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given.
