About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our Individual Giving team as a Senior Direct Marketing Officer. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting with the development and delivery of direct marketing campaigns which will motivate and inspire new and existing donors to give and support the vital work that we do in the UK and around the world.
 
Duties include:

  • Managing the day-to-day development and execution of campaigns from beginning to end in order to recruit and retain cash and regular donors for the British Red Cross, using a variety of media and identifying those that will generate the greatest lifetime value.
  •  Project managing fundraising activity in line with budgets and working to tight deadlines, negotiating costs and managing schedules with suppliers to ensure all projects are delivered on time and timetables are adhered to. 
  • Managing the creative development of direct marketing campaigns by liaising with the internal creative team and/or direct marketing agencies about copy, design and scripts. Taking ownership for copy; proof reading, writing copy for appeals as and when necessary and updating copy where appropriate.
  • Collating and producing review and analysis of campaign activity with key findings.
  •  Supporting staff in the team with training and guidance, including the line management of the Direct Marketing Assistant.

About the person

You will work in a team which manages a programme of inspiring communications, reaching millions of people every year and raising crucial funds for the Red Cross. When disasters strike, you'll also help launch our emergency appeals. You will be working with large budgets so you will need to have a high level of numeracy, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will support and train other team members - so experience of direct marketing channels like direct mail inserts, telemarketing and email is a must.
