Senior Community Fundraising Manager

Flexible location (but based London EC1 3 days a week)

We’re looking for a creative individual with a successful Community Fundraising background to join us as Senior Community Fundraising Manager and shape and lead a brand new community fundraising strategy.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.

Our Community & Events team creates and delivers Shelter’s innovative fundraising events and community fundraising programme. This includes a high value challenge events portfolio, consisting of our own flagship events Vertical Rush and Urban Rush. We also support, develop and promote community fundraising initiatives and deliver an ambitious special events portfolio of high profile cultural events and festival partnerships. Our activities are important, not just in their own right, but in raising Shelter’s profile and attracting and retaining loyal and regular supporters. Join us, and you’ll help us do just that.

About the role
Your main focus will be on developing and leading a strategy for our brand new regional community fundraising pilots in Manchester and Edinburgh. You’ll also need to build your own team by recruiting and managing two Regional Managers for each pilot hub area. Managing a Community Fundraising Assistant based in London will be important too. Indeed, you’ll work with them to capitalise on the wealth of community fundraising opportunities that exist within Shelter and to implement a five-year strategy for community fundraising as a whole. Put simply, your challenge will be to grow and develop our community fundraising from a reactive programme to a proactive and strategic one that is a robust form of income with good long term growth potential.

About you

We’ll also be looking for proficiency using databases and Microsoft Office applications.
