You will take on the nurturing and development of all our existing community supporters and help create new opportunities for groups and individuals to get involved with the hospice.

You will be confident and proactive in contacting existing and potential supporters and able to represent Sobell House publicly and to speak about our work with passion.

This is an excellent time to join Sobell House as we start to build the new Sobell Clinic and Garden annex to provide more targered care to people who are approaching the end of their life.  You will be moving wiht us into our new, bright and modern officers right on the Churchill Hospital site in Oxford.

Key responsibilites:

To achieve the agreed fundraising targets from new and existing supporters.  The budget for Community Fundraising Year 18/19 is £150,000 

To cultivate and recruit community groups as donors and fundraisers 

To deliver our calendar of planned community fundraising activities and events

To represent Sobell House to public events and activities

More specifically, the job entails:

Proactively working in Oxfordshire to foster and retain supporters and encourage the creation of fundraising groups

Supporting and motivating volunteers to fundraise and organise events

Providing excellent supporter care and encouragement to fundraisers and donors through telephone, email, social media and printed communications 

Promoting and publicising particular Sobell House events and external sponsored events

Helping people who have been supported by Sobell House to fundraise or be involved in encouraging others to fundraise

Increase the marketing and promotion of Sobell House’s online fundraising pages (

Developing and updating the website for community fundraising 

Keeping up-to-date and accurate records of fundraisers, donors and supporters
 

General Responsibilities

To work closely with other Sobell House staff and volunteers, including those who work across our shops  

To fully participate in, and make use of, staff and team meetings and supervision

To assist in other areas of Sobell House’s work when appropriate 
 

Person Specification - Essential Requirements

  • Builds relationships and high value partnerships with individuals and community groups

  • Enthusiastic about working with others and taking part in publicly facing events and activities

  • Works flexibly and under own initiative to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

  • Works well in a team, including volunteers, fundraisers

  • Organised about the use of own time and able to plan and deliver events and activities

  • Able to speak publicly on behalf of Sobell House and passionately promoting our work

  • Creative and excited to offer up new and original ideas for involving communities in fundraising 

Person Specification - Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of community fundraising

  • Experience of event and activity coordination

  • Experience of managing volunteers

  • Knowledge of website content management

  • A full driver's license, access to a car, and/or willing to travel within Oxfordshire
