Primary objectives: To support the delivery of the Society’s fundraising strategy and campaigns, provide fundraising support to the Society’s local centres and manage the fundraising team.

Duties

  • Manage the Trusts and Legacy team
  • Develop and manage productive relationships with trusts and corporations
  • Work with the Trust Relationships Officer to deliver targeted funding applications to an agreed programme
  • Contribute to the development of the Society’s integrated fundraising strategy
  • Work closely with local SVP Community Support Centres in the development and delivery of their local fundraising strategies
  • Produce regular reports on KPIs and fundraising performance against agreed objectives for senior management and the Board of Trustees
  • Work closely with the Communications team in designing, producing and distributing fundraising literature and planning fundraising-related social media campaigns
  • Prepare and contribute fundraising related content for online and hard copy publications
  • Work closely with the communications team in devising and managing online fundraising campaigns and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Society’s communications and social media strategies
  • Source, design and deliver internal and external training for the national office fundraising team, and for staff and volunteers working at our local operational centres
  • Maintain awareness of the fundraising regulatory environment, major issues and trends in fundraising and prepare advice and reports for management and the board of trustees

Person Specification

It is essential that the post holder has the following education and skills:

  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent
  • A high level of literacy and numeracy
  • Professional qualification or proven experience in fundraising
  • Understanding of recognised best practice fundraising principles and their application in fundraising
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly MS Office suite
  • Effective interpersonal skills

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in fundraising
  • Experience of researching and applying to trusts and foundations and of building productive long-term relationships with funders
  • Experience of preparing and interpreting project plans and budgets for funders
  • Experience of digital fundraising and online payment systems
  • A sound understanding of Gift Aid
  • Experience of implementing the requirements of the Fundraising Code of Practice
  • Experience and knowledge of the GDPR regulatory framework as it applies to fundraising
  • Experience of spotting opportunities and following up fundraising opportunities
  • Experience of working with data to agreed standards and best practice, particularly with regard to GD

  • Membership of the Institute of Fundraising
  • A certificate or diploma in fundraising
  • Experience of major gifts fundraising methodology
  • Experience of legacy fundraising
  • Experience of managing people
  • Experience of teaching and mentoring others in fundraising principles and practice
  • Knowledge of the SVP and its work
  • Experience of developing, managing and delivering a successful fundraising strategy for a charity
