SCM is looking to appoint a Church and Community Fundraising Officer. You would be joining a growing, dynamic staff team, developing our fundraising strategy to expand regular giving from individuals and churches, and encourage legacy donations. The successful candidate will be someone who is energised by building relationships, communicating effectively and being part of a team.

Experience of relationship fundraising is essential.

SCM is a small charity with an ambitious strategic plan for growth, of which the development of our fundraising is a key part. The role holder will continue to grow and professionalise our fundraising using the aims and goals of the fundraising strategy. They will establish new systems, build and maintain key fundraising relationships, particularly with churches and individuals, and produce paper and online material to inspire them to support SCM's work with students and young people.

The main duties of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing the fundraising strategy regarding churches and individuals and establishing new systems to do this where appropriate.
  • Maintaining and developing long term relationships with regular givers, organising events and outreach activities to engage existing and new regular givers.
  • Identifying and engaging with potential new church partners and the development and promotion of church engagement events, including regional church meetings, and national synods and conferences.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with churches, speaking at services and events and promoting activities such as Student Sunday, including producing appropriate resources to encourage engagement and financial support.
  • Managing information and recording the profile and fundraising activity of donors on a database, providing monthly reports on individual and church income.
  • Developing the potential of legacy income.
  • Supporting other members of the team to integrate the fundraising message across the organisation.
  • Supervising the production of fundraising materials, including paper and online materials.

The role will require occasional travel to events around the UK, and all reasonable expenses for travel will be reimbursed. Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu will be given.

Hours: 28 hours per week. Requests for job share or fewer hours will be considered.

Location: Birmingham, with possibility of some home working.

Contract: Permanent
