Trainee Community Fundraiser
South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub
Full Time
£18,000 - £20,000 per annum depending on experience - plus competitive benefits package
12 months training scheme

At Sue Ryder we understand that when you or someone you care for has a life-changing or terminal condition, each day matters. Sue Ryder is a national charity and with the help of our 11,000 volunteers, 450 shops, our dedicated staff and supporters, we provided over 2.5 million hours of care last year. We have launched an ambitious 5 year strategy aiming to double the number of people that we support and we are now looking for an ambitious fundraising trainee who can help us make this a reality.

Initially based at our Nettlebed Hospice, we are looking for an enthusiastic and confident Trainee Community Fundraiser to join our team at this exciting time as we expand our services into the South Oxfordshire region. If you are target driven, a confident communicator and have a passion for the third sector then this could be your opportunity to join an expanding charity. With career development opportunities, this could be your first step to a future in fundraising.

You will:
• Learn how to manage the delivery of local fundraising income to achieve annual targets and sustainable growth
• Develop strong community relationships in a defined area across the South Oxfordshire region in line with new service developments
• Contribute to the development of the fundraising team plan alongside the implementation of the wider fundraising strategy
• Learn the fundamentals of fundraising as well as an understanding of how to cultivate new supporters and manage existing relationships to maximise income as well as recruiting to targets across national and local event income streams
• Help to drive the growth of 'In Memory' fundraising and legacy giving

This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with the following skills and experience:
• Ideally some fundraising experience in community or other areas of fundraising e.g. volunteer management, event or corporate fundraising.
• An understanding of achieving income growth and delivering targets
• Some experience of forming, nurturing and maintaining relationships within local communities including individuals, groups and associations to deliver growth in income or relevant experience of working within a sales cycle
• An excellent networker, capable of developing relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
• A strong performance ethic, driven and motivated towards the achievement of targets
• The ability to engender a pro-active team culture

About us

Our services across South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub supports people aged 18 and over who are dying from life-limiting conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease.
We want to make sure that more people across the region can access our outstanding care in a place that they choose. One of the ways that we are doing that is by investing in our services in South Oxfordshire. This includes our Hospice at Home service, our new Coordination and Advice Line and increased collaboration with other healthcare providers

Sue Ryder provides hospice and neurological care for people facing a frightening, life-changing diagnosis. We do whatever we can to be a safety net for our patients and their loved ones at the most difficult time of their lives. We see the person, not the condition.
