Executive Director for Engagement

Teach First is the leading charity working to build a fair education for all. We believe every child in England and Wales should be able to fulfil their potential. We are helping to transform education by supporting schools serving the most in need. We do three things: get more teachers to the schools that need them most; develop school leadership so teachers and pupils thrive, and provide schools with strong networks and a positive policy environment.

The Executive Director for Engagement leads all Teach First’s work with external audiences and stakeholders. It is highly influential. You will shape our relationships and reputation. You will secure, and be accountable for, our income – from fundraising and from government. You’ll lead our press and policy campaigns, working at the highest level of media and government. And you will push forward our brand, marketing and communications.

This is a critical leadership role for Teach First. You will work with the Chief Executive and the Executive team to drive the vision, set corporate strategy and provide professional and people leadership. You will build a positive culture and inspire staff, the Board and key external stakeholders. You will provide expert relationship management to grow our donors. And you will lead your functions so your teams develop and excel.

You will need significant development and income generation experience in a comparable, challenging environment. You will be entrepreneurial, an experienced leader with a strong commercial mind-set. Ideally you will have experience leading on some of the engagement functions, but most of all we want an ambitious leader who shares the values of Teach First.
