We’re the charity helping millions of people feel happier and healthier by spending more time on and along our canals and rivers. Our rich and tranquil spaces provide places to pause, relax, get fit and escape. It takes an extraordinary team to bring our waterways to life and that’s where you come in.

We are now looking for a passionate and experienced direct marketer to join our growing Strategy, Impact & Engagement Team. As our Individual Giving Acquisition Officer, you will support the Fundraising Development Manager to grow supporter and donor numbers through new and existing acquisition programmes.

The role

You will be managing and analysing a wide range of campaigns at an exciting time of opportunity and change for the Trust. Key areas of responsibility will include our F2F programme, our annual programme of events attendance, and a test plan that involves recruiting new supporters at sites such as shopping malls, train stations and garden centres. You will also help adapt our membership proposition for a wider audience and will develop and deliver digital campaigns to promote individual giving membership.

What you need

This role calls for a fundraising and direct marketing expert with both a proven track record of supporting and developing fundraising opportunities and a good understanding of direct marketing channels including digital and F2F. You’ll be responsible for delivering a wide range of complex campaigns, so it’s important that you have extensive project management skills. To be able to monitor and review your activities effectively, you will also need a love of numbers and a highly analytical mind. Ideally, we’d like you to have a Certificate of Fundraising from the Institute of Fundraising on top of a degree-level qualification (or equivalent professional experience). Other key qualities we’re looking for include persistence, reliability and a can-do attitude.

The impact you’ll have

The waterways we look after contribute to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies, creating attractive and connected places to live, work, volunteer and spend leisure time. These historic, natural and cultural assets form part of the strategic and local green-blue infrastructure network, linking urban and rural communities as well as habitats. Our waterways are on the doorstep of 8 million people and reach some of the most deprived communities within the UK. By caring for our waterways and promoting their use we believe we can improve the wellbeing of our nation. Come and be part of it.

Our diversity

We aim to represent the diverse communities we are part of and welcome applicants from across all sectors of the community. We strongly believe that a diverse workforce brings with it a diversity of ideas, thinking and ways of working which enhances what we do.
