We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, experienced fundraiser for an independent local charity which makes a big difference to the most disadvantaged in our community.

The Churn Project is an independent charity working for the past 17 years in Cirencester.  It tackles inequalities across all ages of the community, focusing especially on vulnerable and marginalised families, older people, and unemployed or low-skilled.  It has earned a good reputation locally and in its countywide network for providing excellent services achieving outstanding outcomes.

We support over 1900 people each year, from before birth to end-of-life, working with people who are seeking work, vulnerable families and older people. We run more than 25 different activities each week ranging from antenatal classes, to work clubs, to memory clubs. The Churn is unique in supporting such a cross-section of our community, particularly the most disadvantaged.

At The Churn we believe that every person we encounter matters, that people should be included and involved in their community, and the most vulnerable should find support.  The Churn works across the community in Cirencester and beyond, from before birth to end-of-life to combat social isolation, create opportunity and offer practical solutions to the issues people present.

The Churn is growing while other organisations and services close or diminish.  We are proud that we are relevant when times are tough, but our vision is that everyone has the support they need, so they no longer need The Churn.  Instead we are dealing with deepening complexity of issues.  Every day we see people with significant mental health problems such as depression and anxiety – worries about money, housing, and health contribute to a decline.  Social isolation is increasing across all ages, it is not just an issue affecting older people – 52% of parents and increasing numbers of young people feel lonely.  More people in poverty, with housing issues, with chronic illness, with dementia are turning to us for help.

That's where you come in.

The Fundraising Manager is a pivotal role within The Churn team, raising funds through grant applications to trusts and foundations and other sources, including individual donors and local businesses.  Working with the CEO and trustees to develop and implement a fundraising strategy. Leading on external communications for publicity and awareness-raising purposes.
