The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest international animal welfare charities; currently supporting projects in over 35 countries worldwide.  We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.

Within our new Fundraising Strategy, we have an ambition to significantly grow our annual income, reaching £50m per annum by 2022. This growth will come from a range of areas across the Fundraising Team, but one area where significant growth is anticipated is the Philanthropy Team. We have a strong foundation of philanthropy expertise, commitment and experience and we are now seeking a talented and experienced Senior Philanthropy Manager to deliver a step change in scale and income over the coming years.

Possessing substantial experience of creating and securing multi-year, six figure funding relationships with donors, you will deliver income growth, expansion and diversification of our philanthropy supporter base. You will personally secure income from new donors and establish, manage and grow your own donor portfolio. You will lead the Philanthropy Team, ensuring team members are effectively supported in their performance and you will build strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders across the Marketing Communications Department and the wider organisation.

Proven experience across all areas of philanthropy, including major giving, trusts and foundations, prospecting and stewardship, is essential. If you feel you have the qualifications, skills and experience to fulfill this varied and rewarding role, and would like to be part of an ambitious and growing Fundraising Team, we would love to hear from you. Based in Sidmouth, Devon – “an area of outstanding natural beauty” – this is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible.
