Who are we?

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering people to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. We provide confidential, personalised support to the whole of the fire services community, whether that’s at our centres, over the phone, online or out in communities. Championing the health and wellbeing of all those we support - serving, retired or dependant - we aim to ensure that our beneficiaries can live well for life. And they’re not all firefighters. We support all fire and rescue service personnel, whatever their role. We are also here for all those who have retired, as well as for spouses and dependants. It costs around £9 million each year to do what we do and we depend on the fundraising efforts and regular donations from fire and rescue service personnel, past and present.

What’s the role?

Our London Community, Corporate and Events Fundraiser will inspire the vibrant and diverse communities within London, Essex and Hertfordshire to unite to support their fire community. You’ll join a nation-wide team of inspiring and innovative fundraisers, working collaboratively to secure the much-needed income for the Charity.

By building relationships with the fire and rescue services in your area, you’ll become an integral part of the local fire services community. Helping to co-ordinate events, support fundraising initiatives and implement new ideas, you’ll support your people, stations, and offices to raise awareness of the Charity and achieve and exceed income targets, as well as working with local businesses and people to maximise our fundraising potential.

By generating the income we need to realise our ambitions, you will help us to be there for even more members of the fire and rescue service. These are the people who run towards what most of us would run from, so supporting them is our utmost priority.

About you

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and innovative fundraiser to join our team, full of ideas and a positive attitude. You’ll need excellent business and project planning skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and adapt your communication style to your audience.

You’ll be responsible for maximising the potential fundraising income from every event and initiative you support, so you must be able to effectively engage with multiple stakeholders and build strong networks.

You’ll also be able to support and inspire our volunteers, ensuring that these vital links between our Charity and the fire and rescue services are happy and fulfilled in their roles.

Reporting to the Fundraising Team Manager, you’ll be an excellent communicator with exceptional organisational skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

The ability to travel and some out of hours working is required. Charity experience is preferred.

Closing date: 9am on 13th February 2020
Interview date: 18th February 2020
