Are you driven by empowering others, a reliable and motivated self-starter, with a demonstrable record of raising funds? Are you looking for the next step in your career and the chance to make your mark in a dynamic and growing charity? If so, we want to work with you. The Spires Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Fundraiser to join our team.

Spires is an award-winning day centre that has been working with homeless and disadvantaged people in South London since 1990. We aim to be the best support we can be in helping people move from lives of distress, isolation and insecurity to a future of greater stability and hope. We work with some of the most isolated and vulnerable in our society. The majority of our clients are homeless or have insecure accommodation, with many also facing complex issues such as long-term unemployment, poor mental and physical health, addiction and substance abuse, or they may be imprisoned by sex work.

With the help of a dedicated volunteer team, we provide a range of services including our Rough Sleeper Space every weekday morning; a twice-weekly Women’s Space; an Open Access Drop-in session, a full adult learning timetable offering free classes and workshops as well as an outreach service that supports people involved in sex work. We assess need, create bespoke support plans, provide ongoing key work and empower people to improve their circumstances. Last year we supported over 1100 people across all our services. You will join the team at an exciting time as we launch our new strategic plan 2019 – 2021 and embark on plans to grow our impact and sustainability over the next three years.

We need a savvy and experienced Fundraiser to generate and grow income through a range of fundraising activities that will support our work in the short, medium and long-term. You will manage funder relationships, and work across the charity to develop supporter care and fundraising initiatives that engage partner organisations and community groups. You will be tenacious, practical and focused, willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Currently, the fundraising team consists of the CEO supported by this post. We plan for the team to expand and there is scope for progression and growth within your role. This is an exciting opportunity to work across all areas of fundraising and your chance to make a real difference to the lives of people in need.

To succeed in this role you will be a highly organised, adaptable team player with a proven track record of generating income to targets. You will be an excellent communicator accustomed to speaking and writing for different audiences, with experience of planning for income generation and producing reports for funders. You will have good grasp of different fundraising approaches and how to maximise their effectiveness. You will have technical proficiency on social media platforms, demonstrate attention to detail in your work and be adept at managing your time.

As well as a competitive salary, we offer a collaborative work environment; a generous annual leave allowance of 24 days plus bank holidays, centre closure between Christmas and New Year, additional leave for long service; life and salary protection insurance; pension contributions at 5% of annual salary and we operate a staff loan scheme.
