Initial Term – Fixed Term Contract for 1 year (3 /4 days per week) – with a possibility of renewal at the end of the term.

The Tablet is the leading Multi-Media international Catholic weekly Journal. Dating back to 1840, The Tablet continues to serve the Catholic and wider religious and ecumenical communities bringing views, opinions and comprehensive coverage on religion, current affairs, politics, social issues and the arts to its readers from leading journalists, authors, politicians, academics and theologians. The Tablet is considered a must read by over 70,000 discerning adults every week.

The Tablet is now looking for a highly motivated individual who is experienced and passionate about fundraising and has a strong interest in Catholicism. 

We are a small, dynamic and friendly team – and this is an ideal role for someone who wants to work in publishing and help build sustainability for The Tablet for many years to come. The purpose of the role is to help The Tablet team build on our existing fundraising efforts, increase The Tablet’s funding by expanding its base of friends, and donors, expand on our legacy work and identify grant giving bodies and foundations who would want to work with us and who would be sympathetic to our aims.

Together with the marketing team, you will be responsible for preparing grant applications, developing compelling cases for support and identifying potential funders. You will assist in helping develop the ongoing fundraising strategy for increasing Tablet income streams through managed partner events; you will manage the donor database and develop and co-ordinate web-based funding. You will help devise, manage and promote fund raising events and sponsorship working with the advertising team.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser and events organiser in the Catholic arena, with excellent communication skills both written and oral.

Essential Candidate Criteria
• Highly organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic about the charity sector
• Proven experience of presenting a case with persuasion and passion
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the team at the Tablet
• Ability to think creatively and pro-actively about different approaches to fundraising
• IT literate with good numeracy skills and experience of managing budgets
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Outstanding writing and research skills
• Experience of fundraising best practice.
• Experience of co-ordinating events
